Change Of Plans

Due to the ongoing Canadian Boarder closure, our journey will take us to Chicago via the Erie Canal into  Lake Erie. From there we will hug the US side to Toledo (never imagined I would be saying going to Toledo by boat). Turning North, we head up to Detroit and enter the Saint Clair Lake then River which puts us on Lake Huron without any locks. This begins the journey round the "mitt" of Michigan . At the top is Mackinaw  City and the famous  Mackinac Bridge. We enter Lake Michigan at the same place as our Canadian route would have taken us. With the change in route, a side trip the Soo Locks to enter Lake Superior  might be on the agenda. This would put BAR-B-Q into four Great Lakes with Lake Ontario , the fifth waiting  for us after Canada opens for the Summer of 2022.

The boat is back in the water. The bimini (cover) for the cockpit has been removed for some minor repair. A local fabricator (Butler Marine from Duryea) is building a small platform out of teak. This is for the lower helm station. It will raise the height about six inches for me to see better over the bow. All of the multiple systems seem to be functioning normal. Hope they stay that way, but "its a boat".
