Leaving is Grand (9-11) thru (9-16)

This has been the longest stay at a  Marina since we started our journey across the waters of Lake Michigan . Grand Haven is a beautiful place with its museums and metal sculptures. The weather has us here this time with thunderstorms and  a lake that is too mad to travel on. We are making the best of our situation by seeing all that we could . The light shows by water are interesting to say the least. They have been doing these for a long time. The lights are very insyc with the music, mainly about movie themes.  Our days have been filled with trips to the Home Depot (for bug sappers), farmers market, and the best was going to a local tavern to watch my 49ers beat the Lions.   On Monday I got to watch the Raider-Raven game. We were surprised to get a channel to see them play.  A visit to the Tri-Cities museum was the greatest ....one that I have seen so far. They are really proud of their accomplishments through the years in making this a beautiful place to live.

weekly updates (9/3) to (9/10)

(9/3) After leaving our anchorage in South Manitou Island, we headed to Manistee Municipal Harbor. We entered into choppy waters all the way over. After getting docked and organized , we met up with a nice couple  on Hallelujah, Steve & Ann, which we had a wonderful time having cocktails and conversation at a local brewery. Back at the boat I did much needed laundry and ordered a pizza. Not bad at all. (9/4) This day was very relaxing for us. It started with a trip to the grocery store for some much needed supplies. John did some work on the boat,  as usual, while I went to town to do some window shopping. A pedicure was on my list , so I found one right there in town. (9/5) It is our 3rd day in Manistee, and you would think that there is nothing to do, but I went to the movies to see the new Marvel film Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings. It was very enjoyable. Visited a bookstore where I finally found a Thesaurus to help me solve my crossword puzzles. Very helpful and Know

Sight seeing tour 8/28 to 9/2

Back at DeTour Village again. We were up early and had breakfast at the De Tour Inn, then stopped at their local farmers market. Picked up a raspberry pie which was different from what we are used too. John visited the hardware store for some fuses. Had a peek at their museum, which as usual is filled with history of the Village.  (8/29) Up real early, so we wouldn't get caught in a storm approaching. We anchored in the   Cheneaux Islands on our way to Beaver Island. Pulling in my fishing rod from the night, I was surprised by the catfish that I had caught. The wind made it tricky for us to dock so we decided to go in bow first. Safely in, our supper was at a nice place called The Shamrock (8/30). Still at Beaver Island, we walked to the St. James Lighthouse. Long walks around this island seem so serene compared to the bigger towns. With only 600 residents year round, they seem to have a sense of togetherness. From the Lighthouse we walked a nature trail that led down to the beach
