weekly updates (9/3) to (9/10)

(9/3) After leaving our anchorage in South Manitou Island, we headed to

Manistee Municipal Harbor. We entered into choppy waters all the way over. After getting docked and organized , we met up with a nice couple  on Hallelujah, Steve & Ann, which we had a wonderful time having cocktails and conversation at a local brewery. Back at the boat I did much needed laundry and ordered a pizza. Not bad at all.

(9/4) This day was very relaxing for us. It started with a trip to the grocery store for some much needed supplies. John did some work on the boat,  as usual, while I went to town to do some window shopping. A pedicure was on my list , so I found one right there in town.

(9/5) It is our 3rd day in Manistee, and you would think that there is nothing to do, but I went to the movies to see the new Marvel film Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings. It was very enjoyable. Visited a bookstore where I finally found a Thesaurus to help me solve my crossword puzzles. Very helpful and Knowledgeable.( Just a little help). Later  my next adventure was to Little Rivers Casino. Got a ride 5miles away from Harbor, but had to take a cab back. No luck, just a night out by myself. Need that once in a while. When I got to boat, homemade chocholate  cookies were waiting for me. John is a great baker.

(9/6)

Morning has us traveling to Ludington Harbor around 12:30 pm because of a cold front the day before. Have to go when mother nature lets us.? Althouh we rocked and rolled all the way over, it was only 28 miles to get here. No problem settling  in for the evening with a nice supper in town.

(9/7) Still at Ludington Harbor for a second day with thunderstorms and hail and windy. 7pm found us watching the

SS Badger dock. This ship was built in the 1920's. It was idle later on by the introduction of the railroad system. Bought and restored, the Badger is a ferry ride to Wisconsin and back every day.  It has transported vehicles and people a long time.

(9/8) 3rd day in Ludington because of rough waters. Decided to visit the Walmart by Dial-a-Ride. It only cost a $1 one way. We had to purchase a new coffee pot and grinder. Our regular one went by the trash because of a leak. John went up to the lake here and found nothing but grassy sides. We visited the museum here and it explained a lot about the lumbering community.

Later this evening we watched the Badger return from its trip across the water. Had a very enjoyable dinner at Timbers, you might know that it was adorned with all kinds of saw blades and saws from the lumber industry here.

(9/9) Up at 7:30 had us going to Grand Haven Municipal Marina.Went 69 miles to get here around 5:45. Had a salad on boat, then walked down dock to have some ice cream. Very quiet evening.

(9/10)After breakfast it was off to the Home Depot for a new water faucet. It was a successful walk with us getting a new one and stopping at a Walgreens for a few things. Stopped at a place called JW's for some lunch and then watched a light show of water to the sounds of movie themes. They have a show of this kind tomorrow also, with a different movie theme.
