Sight seeing tour 8/28 to 9/2

Back at DeTour Village again. We were up early and had breakfast at the De Tour Inn, then stopped at their local farmers market. Picked up a raspberry pie which was different from what we are used too. John visited the hardware store for some fuses. Had a peek at their museum, which as usual is filled with history of the Village.  (8/29) Up real early, so we wouldn't get caught in a storm approaching. We anchored in the   Cheneaux Islands on our way to Beaver Island. Pulling in my fishing rod from the night, I was surprised by the catfish that I had caught. The wind made it tricky for us to dock so we decided to go in bow first. Safely in, our supper was at a nice place called The Shamrock (8/30). Still at Beaver Island, we walked to the St. James Lighthouse. Long walks around this island seem so serene compared to the bigger towns. With only 600 residents year round, they seem to have a sense of togetherness. From the Lighthouse we walked a nature trail that led down to the beach. I was on the hunt for some Petoskey Stones, which are coral that died years ago and mixed with the limestone to form fossils. No luck finding them.  (8/31) Today was an early wake up and off to Leland Harbor some 57 miles away. Easy going across , but the wind picked up as it was time to dock, again bow in first. Decided to treat ourselves to a delightful supper at The Cove, very tasteful surf and turf. (9/1) Still at this  Harbor, we walked a few blocks to a place called Tricia's Dishes for some lunch before exploring Fish Town, which was an old fishing village, but know there is only one place to buy fish. The rest of the buildings are tourist friendly. After supper we walked down to the beach and there  they were my Petoskey Stones. Only found 2 small stones, but they are a treasure to me .(9/2) 8:30 am. wake up had me  to the Leland Market for a few supplies before traveling to South Manitou Island and anchoring for the evening. Took a dinghy ride to

the old lighthouse here and then back to the boat for a pleasant evening.
