New Smyrna Beach

We reprovisioned (Walmart run) at New Smyrna Beach. Rode the bus for .85c each and Lyft back to the marina. Not much time was spent in Smyrna to see the sites, one day in a town is too short. But that was all the marina could give us.

St Augustine

For four nights we were back on a mooring ball. Last time we did this the Chicago skyline was our view. This time the

  • Castillo de San Marcos and the Bridge of Lions were our backyard.

The first night and following day  the winds were strong. We stayed on the boat. Sunday the winds slowed down and we bounced  to the dinghy dock. We visited the outside of the fort, toured the pirate museum and had lunch in the tourist area. We walked back to the marina, did some laundry and talked to some loopers we had met and were introduced to some new ones.
One corner of the fort, complete with moat. The fort is made from coquina stone(ancient shells bonded together). The 400 year old  fort was never taken by force.

We thought Monday would be a good day to see some more site. We were wrong. The city was full of tourists. We visited the inside of the fort and toured the oldest house. We had lunch at an Irish pub and went back to the boat. I forgot about the tasty Popsicles our friend Greg mentioned in his blog. So back to town to get the gourmet sicles. Nancy stayed on board and I hurried back with the treats. Thankfully,  they were still frozen. Nancy had strawberry cheesecake and I enjoyed Blueberry cinnamon. Delicious!!!
