Camp Lejeune

I left the anchorage at Carolina Beach  early in the morning. My next stop was Mike Hammock Bay Anchorage, a large dredge basin surrounded by the  Marine Corps Base.  It was some 50 miles away. I went about 17 miles and was surprised by a bridge that was lower than the 20 ft published height. 20ft is good to go, the 17ft on the board marker I wait for the opening. After 20 minutes of floating in strong current, the bridge opened and I and five other boats pass through .Three of the five I would see later in the anchorage. The other two were traveling south. I was hoping to see some maneuvers but all I saw were 10 jeep like vehicles backing through cones. Peaceful night with some wind and rain.
