Departure Day

Riverside Marina to Chesapeake City free docks  The parties are over and the good-bye's have been said. We had a great party Saturday and another great get together Sunday.  We left Riverside Marina and we are going to 'vacation' in the Chesapeake Bay.  The crab and fish stickers expire  the end of the month so we will make use of them. Anyone on the boat can fish and crab. The boat has the license. With Canada may/may not open, we decided that we will do the U.S. side of the Great Lakes, even if Canada opens. With our 'ships store' and gifts from friends, we have way too much alcohol on board to clear customs. Canada will have to wait until 2022.                                   Some interesting scenes from the water passing Philadelphia. We met our friend Bob and his wife for lunch at his marina Darby Creek. Bob has a Ranger Tug and we spent many hours inside at Riverside working on our vessels together. It was a good break. Leaving Bob's marina. Thanks for

YOU NEVER KNOW

It's with a broken heart I have to announce the passing of our beloved canine "GETTY".  Getty passed peacefully Wednesday night in his sleep. He was lying near the door to the swim platform. I went over to give him a rub, and found him limp. I have no words to describe the horrible feeling that overwhelm me when I held him and he was gone. Getty was such a great boat dog. We traveled hundreds of miles by water in Canada. He really enjoyed  our 14ft 'Tin Can'. He liked the dinghy but was not very happy with the tug. This is why the previous post was the reluctant one. I am hurting and sure miss him but I am so happy he was a big part of my life. RIP my friend

The Reluctant One

Some partners are hesitant about doing the loop. They are called the "Reluctant Spouse". Books have been written about their concerns. After all, the trip is over 6000 miles by water. Nancy, after reading some info and sensing my enthusiasm, is all in for the trip. However, a big part of the family, both physical and emotional, is our 4 leg friend named "Getty". At 130 lbs he's about five times the size of a popular boating companion. Getty has many hours of experience and hundreds of miles on a boat. We traveled to Canada together, traveling the Rideau Canal, Trent-Severn Waterway, 1000 Islands, and part of the 30,000 islands of the Georgian Bay north of Toronto. He enjoys rides in the dingy, but the tug is another story.   Should I stay or should I go?

Time is ticking closer to our departure date. I'm at the boat making improvements, checking the multiple systems, cleaning, organizing, planning and attempting to be a" inventory control specialist". I thought the word inventorian was a word but Google said it was a bag and Wikipedia said it doesn't exist. Nancy has been busy with the "dirt house". Close to 35 years of stuff to sort through.  I don't know who has the harder job. We are leaving a large house that raised four kids transitioning  to a "tiny house" that moves on the water. The good thing about the tiny house is, you can misplace something and find it fast. Things get lost in the big house; especially my basement.  The builder of our boat designed it to make maximum use of available space.  My job it to take advantage this. They say drilling the first hole is the hardest and they are correct.  But many things must be mounted out of the way but instantly accessible.  This clock was a
